Am I Lucky or the Chosen One? 🔮
By Jo
Ever wonder if you're just lucky or if you're the chosen one? It's a question that often crosses the mind of someone who seems to have everyone betting on their success. Are you the pride of the family? The one everyone turns to, expecting you to come through and deliver, as always?
Starting off with mere chances, you somehow ended up being the front runner. How did that happen? It's not just luck. It's the result of a hungry and disciplined mindset.
The Journey to Being the Front Runner
Initially, it might feel like a mix of luck and opportunity. You get a chance, you seize it, and before you know it, you're leading the pack. But let's be real: luck can only take you so far. It's your hunger for success and relentless discipline that sets you apart. These are the qualities that transform opportunities into achievements.
The Pressure of Expectations
Being the family pride comes with its own set of pressures. Everyone expects you to succeed, which can be both motivating and unmotivating. This expectation can either weigh you down or push you to rise above and beyond.
The Woes of a Hungry and Disciplined Person
From the outside, it might look like you've got it all figured out. But the journey is filled with challenges. Staying disciplined, maintaining focus, and constantly striving to meet and exceed expectations is no easy feat. It's a constant battle of balancing your own ambitions with the hopes and dreams that others have placed on you.
Embrace Your Role
Instead of questioning your luck, embrace your role. Recognize the hard work and dedication that got you here. Use the support and belief of those around you as fuel to keep pushing forward. Whether you're the chosen one or just incredibly determined, your journey is a testament to what can be achieved with a strong will and unwavering discipline.

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Why is this person getting all this attention for no reason?” They aren’t doing anything commendable, so what’s the hype all about?
I think sometimes our society has a tendency to overlook people who are in the trenches doing the dirty work. However, you and I are individuals so that allows us to formulate opinions of our own (even if they are unpopular).
Enduring To Survive
A few years ago, at the start of the pandemic (March 2020), I found myself in a position where I had to take a job that paid a fraction of what I used to make. This is a story many of us share, and it was either take that job, have your business disrupted or have no income until the world “opened back up.”
I worked this job for 16 months and hated every single day. During this time, I’m still working on my business, I just started a podcast and decided to get serious about investing. I also continued to apply and interview for better opportunities, but options were limited. By the way, this job was physically demanding, so I was guaranteed to be tired when I finished work each day.
The longer I worked this job, the more frustrated I became. Applying for hundreds of jobs, working full time and working on my business was exhausting. Working to survive and not making enough money to fuel my business also made this process more challenging.
I remember one day at peak frustration at work (every day was bad, but I think this day in particular everything went wrong). I got off of work and sat in my car for maybe 20-30 mins feeling defeated.
As I’m sitting there, I remember when I was younger, my father who was a single parent at the time, lost his job and had to take two jobs doing work he didn’t want to do. I think he sold used cars and did telemarketing at night. He did this for a while until he was able to get back into his preferred career field.
I remember how tired he was and how challenging that period of time was. I also remember him never taking time off and never giving up despite how hard things became. He made it through to the other side through his perseverance.
As I recalled this experience, I thought to myself, “if my dad went through this and made it, I can make it through this too”.
I start my car and drive home. Almost three years to this day, I’m no longer at that job and more aligned with my goals than ever.
I would argue that anyone who can help you endure a challenging phase of your life is a hero in my eyes.
The greatest heroes in our lives may be the ones that never asked for recognition.
Let them know you appreciate them.
