The Weight of Time ⌚
By Jo
As time goes on, the grains of sand in the hourglass keep slipping through, reminding us how fleeting moments can be. I find myself increasingly compelled to hold my peace—sometimes wondering if I’m unintentionally shutting down. It’s not always about withholding thoughts or retreating but more about the caution that comes with age. There’s a growing awareness that, as the sand falls, my words carry weight, and one wrong thing said could impact far more than I ever intended.
When you’re young, your buffer for life's challenges and frustrations is much broader. Things that seemed monumental in your 20s lose their grip by the time you reach your 30s. Yet, the older I get, the more I realize the importance of being mindful of what I say and do. Not just for myself, but for those watching—family, friends, and even strangers. It's a realization that even though I may not aspire to be a role model, there’s still a responsibility attached to my actions.
Time doesn’t stop. And as the sand continues to flow, so does the responsibility to guide the next generation, whether we want to or not. The longer we live, the more we understand that our presence is felt in more ways than we may ever know. Our actions ripple through those around us, shaping their lives, even when we’re unaware of it. This awareness is our power.
The sand slipping through the hourglass doesn’t just symbolize the passage of time but also the responsibility to leave a meaningful imprint. As each grain falls, we get closer to understanding how much our words and actions truly matter. It has been a pleasure being able to display my talent on this platform. I encourage you to share this free advice to anyone that needs it ✌️✌🏻✌🏼✌🏽✌🏾✌🏿
Time Keeps on Slippin’…. 🧊
By Marcus
“Time keeps on slippin’, slippin’, slippin’
Into the future”
These famous lyrics from the song “Fly Like an Eagle” by the Steve Miller Band speak volumes about how time gets away from us.
What side of the time curve do you find yourself on at this stage in your life? Do you feel like your future is filled with promise, or that time is running out?
The Learning Curve
“You don’t know what you don’t know.”
This, right here, is one of the major challenges we face with time. It takes time to figure things out, and you can spend years taking a path that leads to a dead end.
There’s really no escape from this, but here are a couple of ways to mitigate wasted time and optimize the time we have.
Structured Exploration – Yes, it can be good to bounce around and explore, but you can get lost in the rabbit hole of endless content. Our access to education is the greatest it’s ever been. Structure can be a good way to focus in on subjects that interest you. Top colleges such as Harvard, Stanford, and Yale offer free online courses. Not to mention platforms like Coursera or Udemy that offer great courses at affordable price points. There are also many YouTube channels with structured video courses as well.
Routine Time Evaluation – This step can get overlooked as it requires a high level of self-accountability. Set a routine of reviewing your goals and how you spent time working towards them. Ask yourself: Did you make the most of the time available? Could you have spent your time better? Were there any distractions? These are just a few questions, but you get the idea. Scrutinize your time because it’s one of your most valuable resources!
Master Your Time
With a little determination and discipline, you can change the trajectory of your life. Think about the time you truly consider “wasted” and how you could have spent that time better.
Become the master of your time and don’t be scared to break the patterns of behavior that are holding you back.
