Robbing Yourself Blind 🤡

By Jo

Are you the type to get what you want and then say, "Never mind”?

In life, we often find ourselves busting our *** for goals, working tirelessly to achieve something we desire. Whether it's a promotion, an award, or a personal accomplishment, we put in the effort to overcome those challenges and anticipate the reward. However, there's a phenomenon that occurs far too often: we finally get what we've been looking for, only to realize that we no longer want it or are disappointed by the outcome.

The journey toward the goal is often the most significant aspect of the process itself. During this moment in time, we learn, grow, and develop skills necessary to attain our objectives, which can also be transferable skills or learned behaviors to help us tackle even harder tasks going forward. However, we often fixate on the end result and neglect to appreciate the journey. We become so focused on reaching the finish line that we fail to appreciate all the steps taken. Consequently, the achievement may not bring the satisfaction or fulfillment we expected because we've neglected to appreciate the journey that led us to achieve our goals.

What I'm simply saying is don't be a spoiled brat. Don't bruise your own ego for nothing. Don't abuse your physical abilities for nothing. Imagine investing countless hours into a project, sacrificing time, energy, and resources, only to feel underwhelmed or disinterested upon its completion. This scenario is all too common and highlights the danger of not appreciating what we work for. When we don't fully value our accomplishments, we risk experiencing disillusionment, which is a sense of emptiness or dissatisfaction despite achieving our objectives. This will always lead to feelings of wasted effort and missed opportunities for genuine fulfillment. This is why you must respect your journey at all times during the process.

How can we avoid falling into this trap? It all begins with establishing some sort of gratitude throughout the journey. People don't tell others to be humble for no apparent reason. Instead of focusing solely on the end result, take time to acknowledge and celebrate each milestone to avoid burnout. Reflect on the progress that has been made, celebrate challenges that you've overcome. By embracing a mindset of appreciation, you can derive greater satisfaction from your achievements and avoid the disappointment of unfulfilled expectations.

When Everyone Is Winning But You 😥

By Marcus

Do you look around and it feels like everyone is finding success but you?

Are you putting in the work, but the results haven’t materialized?

Deep down, I know you know that this isn’t true, but when emotion clouds logic, what can you do? I’d like to help you with a bit of reframing today.

Social Media Does Not = Winning

Beneath the surface, it’s just a post with some likes and a follower count we can’t confirm is bots or not. I think I could make a strong case that a large percentage of people who post frequently on social media are not happy. Don’t fall for the illusion. Some are actually "winning", but many are slaves to the machines that farm our attention.

Roll With The Winners

If you have found people or a community of people who are more advanced, doing well, and have a proven track record of success, then maybe you should stay there. If you haven’t found people or a community like that, just know that they exist, so keep looking.

Don’t get down on yourself because you haven’t hit your goals yet. You will find your success, but only if you continue to fight for it.

Position yourself around winners and your victory is inevitable.

Be humble, but hungry.

Be respectful, but relentless.

Be brave.

Keep building.

“If I have seen further than others, it is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.”
