Control What You Can Control 🎮

Have you ever felt like you were in a tight spot and happened to lose hope on all things? Have you ever faced challenges that tested your beliefs, regardless of whether emotions were involved or not? In today's context, this is a very common experience that resonates deeply with many individuals, highlighting the importance of prioritizing mental health and well-being. While the focus on mental health has gained significant traction in recent years, the journey towards resilience and empowerment remains an ongoing endeavor for everyone caught in the cycle.

It's easy to overlook the subtle nuances of our mental well-being. From navigating work-related stressors to managing personal relationships, we often find ourselves grappling with challenges that can take a toll on our mental health. However, it's essential to recognize that mental health is no joke. Neglecting our mental well-being can have far-reaching implications, affecting every aspect of our lives, often subconsciously.

Dealing with chaos requires us to foster a culture of open dialogue and support, especially for those who may be on the brink of harming themselves or others. Creating spaces where individuals feel comfortable sharing their experiences, struggles, and triumphs can be incredibly empowering. Whether through educational workshops, support groups, or simply lending a listening ear, each gesture contributes to breaking down the barriers surrounding mental health stigma. This is why I always encourage my friends, family, and even strangers to share their problems. Not only do I learn from their experiences, but it also helps them release tension and sometimes even find solutions to immediate problems by simply needing a sounding board.

It's crucial to acknowledge the interconnectedness of our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Just as we prioritize our physical health through exercise and nutritious eating, dedicating time to nurture our mental and emotional resilience is equally vital. Incorporating mindfulness practices, self-care rituals, and stress reduction techniques into our daily routines can help cultivate a sense of balance and inner peace. Make sure you take full advantage of planning free time or activities to keep yourself sane. You would be surprised how much a simple break can make a difference. Trust me, I've been befuddled, upset, and extremely enraged due to not taking a break from my normal workflow when I hit a roadblock. Then, when I come back, all of a sudden I find easier solutions on how to tackle everything!

Leading by example plays a pivotal role in promoting mental health awareness. As leaders, influencers, and community members, our actions speak volumes. By openly prioritizing our own mental health and advocating for supportive environments, we inspire others to do the same. Together, we can shift the narrative surrounding mental health from one of silence and shame to one of resilience and empowerment. The journey towards nurturing mental health is multifaceted, requiring dedication, compassion, and a willingness to embrace vulnerability. By fostering a culture of open dialogue, prioritizing self-care, and leading by example, we can create a world where mental health is valued, supported, and celebrated. Remember, your mental health matters, and you are not alone in your journey towards resilience and empowerment.

Running On Fumes 😴

Feeling burned out and beaten down?

Increased workloads, working more hours, more stress, lack of job security, no pay increase, no help on the way, and no end in sight.

Sounds like a horror film to me. What do you think?

I’ve experienced burnout at least three times in my career. It also doesn’t help that I’m notoriously bad at taking time for myself. Guilty as charged.

If there was a downside to having a great work ethic, being a team player, and being ambitious, it’s that you can burn yourself out along the way.

This is the lesson I hope to pass on to you today.

IS IT THE JOB KILLING YOUR VIBE?

We know that certain jobs have high turnover rates, or you may be working in an environment that has a culture of milking their employees dry. Bills are due, so the work must be done.

If you are dealing with burnout, making it through the workday probably consumes most, if not all, of your energy.

It’s easy for some people to say, “find a new job” or “start a side hustle.” When you are exhausted ALL the time, that’s an uphill battle.

TAKING TIME OFF

Some people (including me) will wait until work becomes unbearable to request time off. I want to pass off some great advice to you that I received recently…

“Request The Time Off Before You Need it!!”

This will give you at least some type of reprieve and help maintain your sanity.

If only I took this advice 10 years ago…

Also, try to give yourself 20-30 minutes each week to reflect on what is and isn’t working.

If you commit to this practice, you will often find yourself coming up with new solutions that you can test and incorporate into your routine. Give yourself an opportunity to find clarity. A little bit of clarity can go a long way!

Don’t underestimate the power of a staycation : )

Later✌️…
