The True Path to Success 🆙

By Jo

One thing about being on top or fortunate as an individual is that you might not understand what losing feels like. This lack of understanding can cloud your perspective on humility and its impact on your grind and character.

Have you ever been the butt of everyone’s jokes? Have you ever been on top and lost it all? Have you ever experienced some level of success and struggled to maintain it? These questions aren’t just about probing your past but about highlighting the significance of experiencing failure.

True success isn’t about always winning. It’s about falling, learning, and rising again. When you’re constantly at the top, you miss out on the valuable lessons that failure teaches. Failure can be a harsh but effective teacher, showing you what needs to change and how to improve. It builds resilience, empathy, and enhances your character.

Humility, born from experiencing loss and failure, is crucial for personal growth. It keeps you grounded, reminds you of your limitations, and helps you connect with others on a deeper level. Without it, you risk becoming complacent and disconnected from reality.

Remember, you will never be a true winner until you experience some level of failure. Embrace your setbacks as stepping stones. They guide you on the right path, refine your strategies, and ultimately lead you to a more profound and lasting success. Don’t fear failure; welcome it as part of your journey.

Entertainment Is a Luxury 💎

By Marcus

How much of your life have you spent watching or listening to entertainment? If you could put a value on the time spent, what would it be?

I have to admit, I think I spent too much time being entertained vs. being engaged in something that moves me forward. This was a hard realization I came to a few years ago, shortly after I cut off sports, music, and entertainment news in general.

Entertainment is fun and a great escape for us; however, is it the best use of our time? I had to create a term that really encapsulates this idea.

I’d like to introduce “Luxury News.

Luxury News -

Entertainment or information that is primarily consumed for enjoyment or leisure, offering minimal practical value or essential knowledge. Like luxury goods, it caters to personal preferences and tastes, serving as a form of indulgence rather than necessity.

Increase Time on What Matters

My initial thoughts were how much of my life I wasted on luxury news. I told myself if I would have taken a fraction of this time and spent it on investing, studying, or improving myself, I would be much further along than I was in the moment.

I remember being consumed with NFL, NBA, and other entertainment news, and I could only blame myself. Slowly, I cut off everything, and it became my new normal to not care about missing out on keeping up with news stories. I began to focus on what was essential to my growth and where I wanted to be in life.

One key observation of making this change is you will realize how much of what people discuss day to day actually falls in the category of luxury news. Chances are you might fall out of some social circles, but you will enter new ones!

You’re Not a Machine

Now, if you are someone who decides to go on a “luxury news” diet, be warned. On the opposite end is information overload, physical & mental fatigue.

We can only do so much work before we burnout. I’ve hit points where my brain was “cooked,” and I had to take a break. Entertainment can help us relax and find enjoyment in our lives.

Now, from time to time, I allow myself to consume a few sports highlights or the random entertainment story. When I do consume this entertainment, I always, and I mean ALWAYS watch it on 2x speed because I know another story will take its place shortly. That’s how luxury news works…it’s here today…gone tomorrow…and back again.

Keep pursuing your dreams. Allocate time where you believe it will have the greatest impact.
