Connection is all around us. At home, work, and in our personal lives, we constantly engage with others and the world. These connections often extend beyond the surface, shaping our experiences and opportunities in ways we might not immediately comprehend. Sometimes, individuals we've never met can significantly impact our lives.
Consider the concept of artificial scarcity. This economic ordeal occurs when goods or services are made scarce through manipulation from the powers that be, not because of genuine shortages. Companies might limit production to drive up demand and prices, or exclusive access might be granted to create a sense of value (Special edition or limited access). Understanding artificial scarcity is essential because it influences our purchasing decisions, availability of resources, and even our well-being.
So, what happens once we connect the dots and recognize these deeper connections and manipulations? Awareness is the first step. With this understanding, we can make better choices, whether it’s questioning why a product is in short supply or recognizing the long-term impact of our consumption habits.
Next, we can advocate for transparency and fairness. By supporting policies and practices that promote genuine availability and fair distribution, we help confront the negative effects of these marketed goods and services. Additionally, we can share our knowledge with others with having more informed and empowered communities.
Don’t be the people at the club hangouts paying well over 200%+ on drinks that you can enjoy at home or elsewhere. Stop trying to be the “Rich idiot”.

“A Fool and his money are soon parted.”
For many years, unfortunately, I was that fool…
I’ve become more protective of who I give my money to and when. I will say I 100% learned this lesson the hard way.
When I didn’t know any better, I would find myself having to take advantage of “limited time offers” or “buy before x date.” I was a regular mark for artificial scarcity sales tactics.
I think my lightbulb moment was when I saw a countdown sales clock for an online course reset at a Lower Sales PRICE!!!
Sales strategies are designed to do exactly that… sell to us. It’s not a crime; however, it’s important to have an understanding of some of the strategies so we can be intelligent consumers. I’m going to share a couple of lists of sales strategies here and think about which ones are effective for you and which ones you dislike.
I asked ChatGPT to create two lists: Effective and Unethical but effective sales tactics. Here are the results:
Effective Sales Strategies:
Unethical but Effective Strategies:
What do you think?
We are constantly being sold to, and for some of us, our very job involves selling to others. There will always be another sale around the corner. Businesses will always find creative ways to incentivize you to buy their products. Make sure the offer works for you and your budget. Buyer’s remorse is real!
Remember, if you are looking for a deal, there’s always an upcoming holiday or a new reason to offer a “special deal.” People love deals, and there will always be things to buy, but in the moment, if it doesn’t work for you, don’t be scared to say…
